Vivid Sydney returns from 21 May to 12 June 2026, transforming the city into a glowing, immersive playground of light, music, food and ideas. It is one of Australia’s most iconic events, and this year, it stretches further than ever.
The Vivid Light Walk now spans an uninterrupted 6.5 kilometres through Circular Quay, The Rocks, Barangaroo and Darling Harbour. The city becomes the stage. Every corner holds something worth stopping for. And where you stay becomes part of the experience.
Whether you are planning a spontaneous midweek visit or a full weekend escape, staying close to the action means more time exploring, less time commuting, and the freedom to experience Vivid your way.

What’s On at Vivid Sydney 2026
Vivid Light
The Vivid Light Walk is the centrepiece of the festival – a free, all-ages experience you can walk every night from dusk until late. Highlights this year include the Lighting of the Sails: Opera Mundi at the Sydney Opera House, the Laser Lightfall spectacular at Darling Harbour, and the returning Star-Bound Drone Show – now in its longest season yet with 22 shows over the water.
The Light Walk is free and open every night of the festival. No tickets needed – just show up.
Vivid Music
From intimate late-night sets to headline performances, Vivid Music spans venues across the CBD and inner city. This year features Kae Tempest, Chanel Beads (their first Australian show), RUBII at Oxford Art Factory, and Daniel Avery Live – plus plenty more across the full 23 nights.
Vivid Minds
A brilliant line-up of thinkers, filmmakers and creatives in conversation. Highlights include Academy Award-winning director Chloé Zhao, Best Picture winner Sean Baker, Pulitzer Prize-winning art critic Jerry Saltz, and author Roxane Gay.
Vivid Food
Some of Sydney’s best chefs and dining experiences come together for special Vivid-only events – from long table dinners to intimate chef collaborations across the city.
